[It's the only shout heard echoing over the Gear from a new transmission before the feed goes dead silent. Around fifteen minutes and a good breakfast later, Kuwabara manages to find the video function.

He's now outside and brushing crumbs away from his mouth.]

URAMESHIIII!! WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GO?!

[Because obviously, being somewhere else means it's his fault. He waits a solid minute of just looking and staring, but then just decides to ask the gear instead. Thanks, Urameshi. Thanks.]

So, uh, some nice lady thought I was her kid and gave me a bag and a cat. [He laughs a little nervously.]

I don't know what it is, but it's kinda cute! She said it's mine, but, uh... I'm not really her kid? Does she have a kid? She's kinda... [He pauses on this one, then shrugs.] Unique's a good word for it.

Anyway. What am I s'posed to do with this? And, uh... how do I get back home? I'm not in the demon world right now, am I? 'Cuz this doesn't seem like Earth, but it's kinda like Earth. It's normal. Well, except for the pink cat, and the lady, and waking up here, and... Well, a lot of it's not normal.

I mean, usually Urameshi knows what's going on, but I dunno where he went, so... Anyone know here?

Pocket... monsters? Weird name. How many are there to catch? And what's the point in that? Do they go away?

I have no idea of exactly how many species there are. The first games had one hundred and fifty, though. This place has way more than that.

[And here she adds-] And nope, they don't go away. They're pretty nice little guys, though. Your starter can be a really good friend if you give it a chance, like a partner!

Hmm... Well, I'm totally up for givin' this one a chance. I love cats! But I don't get how I'm supposed to catch a hundred monsters with one cat.

Maybe I should start at the beginning. [She's trying to be nice and not give him the impression she's laughing at him here, he's not making it easy since his outbursts are just adding fuel to the fire. STOP IT.]

You don't have to catch them. That's just what the video games were about. Here you can pretty much do whatever you want- as long as it's not illegal, like stealing other people's Pokemon. That little guy- or girl -is your starter. They'll get stronger the more you train them.

[BUT IT'S WHAT HE DOES. HE'S VERY HOTBLOODED. And he's looking ridiculously studious at her explanation.]

So we... can fight or play with these things all we want and they get stronger by that? But... then what do we do with 'em?

Well there are eight gyms here in Johto and eight more in Kanto. You could travel around challenging the gym leaders to Pokemon matches? They usually give out pretty useful prizes. I like to personally spar with mine, too. Some people just keep them around for companionship. It's really up to you what you guys do.

Wow... That's a lot of gyms! Sounds like it'd keep anyone busy for a while.

You spar with 'em? Like... fist-to-fist .... or paw or wing or whatever it fights with?

Yeah. The time it takes to even get ready for the first gym will make it seem like time is flying. [She's got a pretty lax attitude about this place in general though.]

Mostly fist-to-paw. My starter, Donna, is a Riolu. They're fighting types. [She takes a second to focus the camera on the Pokemon in question, who barks sharply and seems to be grinning back.] Rocky helps, though. [Annnd then she pans the camera over to her oversized (yes, even for his species) Onix.] Keeps my dodging skills up to speed, you know? So, fist-to-rock, I guess?

[Holy crap that's definitely... some sort of he's-not-really-sure-but-thinks-it-might-be-a-rabbit??? and... a rock.]

...y-you fight the rock snake?! Really?! [Are you part demon or what?!]

Well yeah, why not? [This seems perfectly logical to her.] He's faster than he looks. It's a good way to make sure I'm not getting soft.

At least he doesn't have blades for arms. I tried training with Crabcake once and I nearly got a surprise haircut. Whew!

[Well now you're just feeding what little ego she's got. This grin? Yeah. Cassie is pretty pleased with the compliment.]

You spend enough time with your Pokemon and they pick up on how much you can handle.

Oh, that's pretty freakin' sweet! I'm gonna test my own skills in this place too, then!

[Now he's got ideas. Bad, horrible, he'll-probably-get-arrested ideas, but now they're going to happen.]
